In 1994, Barbara Shannon-Banister began discussing and exchanging ideas with colleagues and friends about creating an organization which would promote the listening to and performance of musical works by African-Americans and add to humanity's cultural awareness and demonstrate by example that learning is an enjoyable experience. Out of these discussions, the company Grand Design Inc., was created. Grand Design Inc., accomplishes its purpose by coordination of educational, entertainment and performing arts projects.
